| No Holiday for Garbage and Recycling Collection |
Labor Day is a regular garbage, recycling, and yard/food waste collection day for homes with Monday service. Please place your three carts out at the curb by 6 AM. Normal collection schedules are in effect the entire week. If you have a missed pick-up, please call Allied Waste at (510) 657-3500 or Tri-CED at (510) 429-8030. |

| Poll Supports Renewal of Parcel Tax |
As Union City’s City Council decides what measures to place on the November ballot, the city released results of a public opinion survey it commissioned. The survey asked voters whether they would vote for renewal of the present tax, an enhancement of the present tax to include funding for additional city services or, alternatively, a utility users tax. | Fall Festival of the Arts |
Union City's Fifth Annual Fall Festival of the Arts is scheduled for Sunday, September 28, 2008. Once again it is being held at Old Alvarado/Cesar Chavez Park. | New! Scholarships for Afterschool Program |
Union City Leisure Services is now accepting applications for full scholarships to the Club Une afterschool program. Scholarships are available only for eligible low income students from Barnard White, Cesar Chavez and Alvarado middle schools. Applications will be processed on a first come/first served basis, and will be accepted at Kennedy Community Center, Holly Community Center and City Hall.
