Nakamura Clinic, Union City, Washington Hospital’s newest primary and urgent care clinic is now serving the community. The clinic is named in tribute to Mr. Shigeharu Nakamura who has been active in the Tri-City area for several decades.

The clinic offers primary care services, regular check-ups and important health screenings for the entire family. The clinic itself houses nine exam rooms, one minor surgery room, a section for radiology, a laboratory site, a triage room, a “family friendly” waiting area, and an adjacent conference center where Washington Hospital’s popular Health & Wellness classes will be conducted.

Because the clinic offers urgent care for minor injuries and illnesses, many residents who might otherwise have to travel to the ER and face longer wait times can be seen more quickly with the added benefit of seeing a physician who is familiar with their medical history. “In some instances the wait time will be significantly less and the cost to patients will be reduced if they visit the clinic for minor injuries versus going to the ER,” says Dr. Hoang Trinh, the clinic’s medical director.

Services at the new clinic include:

  • Preventive care, including adult physical exams and well-child checks
  • Management of chronic medical problems including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, among others
  • Treatment for colds, coughs, flu and flu-related symptoms
  • Immunizations for children, adults and for travel
  • Minor surgery
  • Minor orthopedic care
  • Treatment of minor injuries, such as cuts and bruises
  • Urgent care
  • Care for job-related illness and injury, as well as other occupational health needs through the Well For Work program
  • On-site X-ray and laboratory services

Bilingual staff available and most insurance plans accepted and billed as a courtesy to patients

The adjacent 3,000 square foot conference center also enables Washington Hospital staff to hold screenings and community education classes on-site so that residents can learn about various health topics. The clinic will also allocate space for Union City’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), which will help the City in case of disaster.
