New Crime Free Program

The Union City has embarked on a new innovative program to address crime issues on rental properties. The Union City Crime Free Program deals with criminal and civil law issues that apartment owners and managers are being faced with. The program is designed to open channels of communication between property owners/managers and the Union City Police Department, thus forging an alliance.

Continued Commitment to Building Trust Relationships

"With all the negativity on the airwaves that continues to threaten the resolve of the positive and productive police-community relationships far and wide, we thought we'd take a moment to thank and appreciate YOU, Union City, for investing in the trust relationship we have built together.  Enjoy this video message from us to you."

- UCPD Chief Darryl C. McAllister

Welcome to the Union City Police Department's website. Here you will learn more about the dedicated men and women honored to serve a diverse community of more than 75,000 residents and nearly 2,000 businesses.

The Union City Police Department is proud of the quality of service we provide to our community.  We are dedicated to keeping Union City a vibrant and safe place to live, work, and visit.  We are committed to engaging regularly with our community to maintain a strong sense of partnership and trust as we work together to safeguard the quality of life for everyone in the city.

The Union City Police Department was formed in 1966 with twelve police officers and one secretary serving a population of less than 7,000 people.  As the community has grown, so has the department. Today, we have over 130 employees, including 81 sworn officers, more than 25 full-time civilian support staff, and cadres of volunteer members of different capacities.

Led by an executive team of one chief of police and two police captains, the UCPD is a full service agency providing around-the-clock services through the deployment of resources under two divisions—Field Operations Division and the Support Services Division.  The chief’s message describes in detail the department’s mission, values and priorities in the delivery of service.
