Union City Has Zero Tolerance for Illegal Fireworks

fireworks noA Fourth of July reminder that the Union City Police and Fire departments will be issuing citations to property owners and tenants who allow the use of illegal fireworks on their property or property under their control. Fines of up to five hundred dollars could result. The City allows the use of "safe and sane" fireworks from 8:00a.m., Tuesday, July 1 until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3.  On July 4th, fireworks may be used from 8:00 a.m. through 11:00 p.m.  No fireworks of any kind are permitted east of Mission Blvd., in City Parks or City Streets, at any time.

Lineup Set for Summer Concert Series 2008

Every Saturday between June 21 and August 23, Old Alvarado/Cesar Chavez Park will be the place to be for great sounds, healthy fresh produce and a fun and relaxing atmosphere. National Night Out Set for August 5th

nno2008Tuesday, August 5th is National Night Out in Union City and across the country. Residents are encouraged to join with their neighbors to have a neighborhood block party, ice cream social or other outdoor event to build neighborhood spirit and unity – which is the first defense against crime. Research shows that when neighbors know each other and look out for each other crime goes down.

Sharing the Arts 2008

Paddy's Coffee House in the Old Alvarado district will once again showcase beautiful and inspiring work by local artists. Items on display we be available for sale. Annual Film Festival Seeks Entries

filmcameraEnter the Fourth Annual Paddy’s Film Festival! This film festival is open to all aspiring film makers who would like to share their work. The festival is open to all themes, which include but are not limited to documentary, animation, comedy, drama, foreign, etc. There is no fee to enter. Films will be shown on Friday evenings during the month of September.

New! Scholarships for Afterschool Program

uclsUnion City Leisure Services is now accepting applications for full scholarships to the Club Une afterschool program. Scholarships are available only for eligible low income students from Barnard White, Cesar Chavez and Alvarado middle schools. Applications will be processed on a first come/first served basis, and will be accepted at Kennedy Community Center, Holly Community Center and City Hall.
