William Cann Civic Center Park was named in memory of Union City’s police chief who was shot and killed while attending a community meeting in 1974.

This park, which borders Union City Civic Center, Alameda Creek and Alvarado-Niles Road, is recognized by the lagoon, which is home to many large migratory birds.

The back of the park has large rolling hills that lead to a play structure, numerous picnic tables and large rolling hills lead to a play structure and an exercise circuit.

This park is also home to the city's new 18,000-square-foot skate park.
