Local Streets and Roads Program

Measure B Local Streets and Roads Funds are used to help pay for several types of City street and roadway projects in order to maintain and improve upon the existing transportation infrastructure in Union City.
The projects funded with the FY 07/08 funds include:
- Pavement maintenance and Slurry Seal Program to rehabilitate various City streets.
- Installation of wheelchair ramps to current standards
- Replacement of damaged loop detectors to allow traffic signals to operate effectively
- GIS Program
- Retrofit traffic signals with audible pedestrian signals to assist the visually impaired.
- Installation of a new traffic signal at Hartnell St./Alvarado-Niles Road intersection.
- Installation of radar based speed limit signs that display vehicle speeds to curb speeding in problem areas.
