Recycle Household Batteries and Cell Phones

Don't toss those old batteries and cell phones in the trash. Curbside collection is now available in Union City. Simply call Tri-CED to request a battery/cell phone recycling zip-lock bag. Place the items in the bag and then set out the bag next to your brown recycling cart on your regular collection day.

New Household Hazardous Waste Facility Opens

hhwUnion City residents now have another option for properly disposing of household hazardous waste. Free drop-off of paints, car batteries, garden-related items, sharps and other hazardous waste is now available at the new HHW facility located at the Fremont Transfer Station, 41149 Boyce Road in Fremont.

New Waste Disposal Facility for Union City Residents
After serving the Tri-Cites area for more than 40 years, the Tri-Cities Landfill is now closed to the public. Residents making a "dump run" are now being directed to the new Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station on Boyce Road, between Stevenson and Auto Mall Parkway. It's open Monday thru Saturday from 8am to 5pm, but closed on Sunday.

Recycle Those Plastic Grocery Bags
plastic bags Starting July 1, California consumers will find it easier than ever to do the right thing with all those plastic grocery bags. A new law now requires that most grocers and pharmacies provide bins for the collection and recycling of plastic bags brought back by customers to generate greater markets for the use of recycled plastic bags as well as eliminate the havoc caused by plastic bag litter.
