Let us know what you think about food scrap recycling. In September, Union City launched a new recycling program designed to divert a significant amount of waste from the landfill. More than 16,000 households in our city were provided with a free kitchen pail to collect food scraps. Residents fill the pails with leftovers and food-soiled paper products and then empty the pail into their green yard waste cart. Tri-Ced reports an increase in the amount of organic material collected from homes in Union City since the new program started.
