Welcome Aboard

Union City Transit is the City of Union City’s own bus system. Routes are coordinated with the arrival and departure of BART trains at the Union City BART Station. Union City Transit provides connections with AC Transit and the Dumbarton Express for additional regional transportation options. Main transfer points for Union City Transit are located at the Union City BART Station and the Union Landing Transit Center. Services are partially funded by the Measure B sales tax of Alameda County.

Accessibility

All Union City Transit buses are wheelchair accessible. It is recommended that wheelchairs have a working brake system.
As a courtesy to riders with mobility limitations, please yield the designated priority seating at the front of each bus to seniors and persons with disabilities.
Rules of the Road

  • No smoking, eating or drinking
  • No littering or graffiti
  • No pets or animals except service animals and animals in carriers
  • Please keep the aisle clear of impediments
  • Silence all amplified audio devices
  • Bike racks are provided on the front of the bus, no bikes are allowed on the interior of the bus except folding bikes
  • Bus operator reserves the right to refuse service to anyone when they determine that the safety or comfort of passengers is threatened
  • Union City Transit is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. For lost articles, please call (510) 471-1411
Using the Bus System

Please use the timetable for schedule time points. If your bus stop is not on the timetable, use the previous time point closest to your bus stop as a guide. Buses stop only at fixed locations designated by bus stop signage. For more information, please call (510) 471-1411

Union City Transit transfers are issued with cash fares only at time fare is paid. Union City Transit transfers are valid for one transfer within 90 minutes of issue. All transfers and passes must be valid.

Monthly passes are valid until the third City Hall business day of the following month. Monthly passes are sold at City Hall (34009 Alvarado-Niles Road) during regular business hours. Passes may be purchased by mail using the envelope found on the bus or online at www.uctransit.org.  Mail and online pass sales may take up to ten business days for delivery.

Union City Transit and Paratransit drivers are employed by our operations contractor, MV Transit. For employment information, contact MV Transit at 510-441-0698.  You may also apply in person at 34650 – 7th Street, Union City, CA 94587, Monday through Friday. Bring an H-6 DMV printout (10-year driving record), valid driver license, and your Social Security Card when you apply.
