- Used Motor Oil and Filters
Did you know that used motor oil never wears out? It just gets dirty and can be recycled, cleaned, and used again. Recycling used motor oil conserves a natural resource (oil) and is good for the environment too! Motor oil poured onto the ground or into storm drains, or tossed into trash cans (even in a sealed container) can contaminate and pollute the soil, groundwater, streams, and rivers (and it's illegal!). Here’s how to properly recycle your used motor oil and oil filters.
Tri-CED provides free containers for recycling used motor oil and oil filters. You may place a maximum of 2 one-gallon plastic jugs of uncontaminated (meaning not mixed) used motor oil at the curb on your regular weekly collection day. To request oil containers and oil filter bags call: Tri-CED Community Recycling at 510.429.8030.
Take your used oil to a certified used oil collection center in Union City.
