Did you know used motor oil never wears out? Used motor oil can be recycled, cleaned, and used again! Recycling used motor oil conserves a natural resource (oil) and is good for the environment too. It is illegal to pour motor oil in the ground and into storm drains and to place motor oil in any recycle, compost, or landfill bin/cart (even if it is in a sealed container) as this can pollute the soil, groundwater, streams, and rivers.
Curbside Used Motor Oil Collection
Tri-CED Community Recycling provides one-gallon jugs for residents to recycle their used motor oil and bags for residents to recycle their used oil filters at no additional charge. You may place a maximum of two (2) one-gallon plastic jugs of used motor oil at the curb on your regular weekly collection day. Call Tri-CED Community Recycling at (510) 429-8030 to request containers to store used motor oil and used oil filters at no additional charge. Never mix used motor oil with other automotive products or fluids.
