Neighborhoods with Posted No Parking during street sweeping hours

It is estimated that the City maintains approximately 300 curb miles of streets. Of that, approximately 25% is currently signed for no parking during street sweeping hours. These signed areas are identified on this map.

Street cleaning is a tangible activity that a city can do to improve environmental quality and storm water management. It is believed that the signed “no parking during street sweeping hours” program has substantially increased the effectiveness of street cleaning in those areas and the consequent improvement in the quality of storm water run-off.

Public Works will be expanding this program in new areas of Union City, ultimately encompassing the entire City. The expansion of “no parking during street sweeping hours” will be done incrementally within the City, concentrating first on those neighborhoods that have experienced problems with access for street sweeping (primarily those areas that are heavily parked) and continuing until all neighborhoods are included.
