Picnic Reservations

As of April 1, 2021, Union City will begin accepting picnic rentals for sites that meet the current guidelines for gatherings in Alameda County.  Please visit www.unioncity.org/reg for available locations or email kennedycenter@unioncity.org for more information.

Union City residents and visitors love our parks and active, open space. If you are looking for an outdoor space to have a picnic or party, we have a wide range of options for you. In addition to the many parks throughout Union City.

Residents and Non-Residents can reserve public parks for picnics up to thirty (30) calendar days in advance. For online reservations please go to: www.unioncity.org/reg under the Facility & Parks tab.  You will need to have a REC1 account to reserve a picnic area. All site fees are doubled for all non-residents and on holidays.

Steps to booking your Public Park Picnic Reservation:

1. Go to: www.unioncity.org/reg sign in to your REC1 account.

2. Click on the "Facility & Parks" tab.

3. Choose your Park (ie. Kennedy Park, Seven Hills, Park, etc).

4. Choose your Site (some parks have multiple sites; see pictures attached).

5. Fill in the prompts and accept the waivers.

When doing a reservation, you will not be prompted to make payment right away.  Your permit will be PENDING APPROVAL until office staff has approved it.  Park approvals will take 24-48 hours, (except for weekends and holidays), in which case will be approved the following business day.  Once approved, you will be emailed to make payment and you will have 24 hours to make your payment.  Reservation fees vary on the capacity of the picnic site.

For park and facility rentals, non-residents are charged an additional fee. You must live, own a business, or pay Union City property taxes in order to receive the resident rate. Proof is required.

If you cannot reserve online, download the Park Reservation form (PDF) and fill it out in advance before coming in during business hours only.  Please check with the Kennedy Youth Center for current business hours at (510) 675-5329.
