Holiday Service Schedule & Tree Collection Program
Republic Services and Tri-CED Community Recycling observe the following holidays:
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Day
Collection service is delayed by one day when the holidays listed above fall on a weekday. For example, during Thanksgiving week, only customers with Thursday and Friday service are affected. Thursday customers will be provided collection service on Friday, and Friday customers will receive collection service on Saturday.
November 23, 2023 (Thanksgiving Day):
No collection service will be provided on Thanksgiving Day. Collection service scheduled for Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24, will occur one day later.
December 25, 2023 (Christmas Day) and January 1, 2024 (New Year’s Day):
No collection service will be provided on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. Collection service will occur one day later during the entire weeks of Decemeber 25 and January 1.
Single-Family Residential Holiday Tree Collection Program
Tri-CED Community Recycling will collect clean green Holiday Trees from single-family households that subscribe to compost collection service at no additional cost. Holiday Trees will be collected curbside on regularly scheduled collection service days from December 26 through January 31.
Please prepare your Holiday Tree for collection by following these simple guidelines:
- Place your tree curbside before 6:00 AM on your scheduled collection day.
- Remove all decorations, tinsel, lights, and tree stand.
- If your tree exceeds 5 feet in length, please cut your tree in half – place one half in your green Organics (Compost) Cart and place the other half curbside for collection.
- Do not place your tree in any type of plastic wrap or bag.
- Natural trees ONLY. Flocked and artificial trees will not be accepted as part of the composting program.
Free Holiday Tree Drop-Off Program
Holiday Trees can be dropped off at the Tri-CED Community Recycling Buy-Back Center located at 33377 Western Avenue at no additional cost. This free Holiday Tree Drop-Off Program is open to all Union City residents.
Please prepare your Holiday Tree for drop-off by following these simple guidelines:
- Remove all decorations, tinsel, lights, and tree stand.
- Do not place your tree in any type of plastic wrap or bag.
- Natural trees ONLY. Flocked and artificial trees will not be accepted as part of the composting program.
- Trees accepted ONLY during operating hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, between December 26 to January 31.
