Public Safety Working Group

Mission Statement

• We are invested and engaged citizens of Union City committed to enriching the community's relationship with our Police Department for the sake of maintaining Public Safety. 
• This group will make sure to continually support the needs of our diverse community in Union City. 
• Our goal is to engage the community and nurture mutually beneficial partnerships for everyone. 
• We will work to meet the community needs by engaging in public outreach and consulting with the Police Department the needs of the community.  
• The group will strive to build a platform for dialog to better understand community perspectives on public safety concerns. 

Purpose 

The purpose of the Public Safety Working Group (PSWG) is to bring members of the community together with the Chief of Police and other leaders of the police department to enhance communication and public safety services.

Role 

The role of the Public Safety Working Group is to help improve “Purpose Driven Policing” in Union City. It is a priority that the Union City Police Department has a good understanding of the public safety priorities and concerns directly from those who we serve. The PSWG allows the police department to receive feedback directly from members of the community and have dialogue regarding their desires, perceptions, and goals for public safety. In addition, members of the PSWG can participate in police community events and offer members of the community a resident-to-resident relationship to share public safety feedback in Union City.
