About the Union City Police Department
The City of Union City was formed in 1959, with the Union City Police Department (UCPD) being established in 1966. In 1966, we had twelve police officers and one secretary to serve a population of less than 7,000 people. Today, we have over 106 employees, including 81 sworn officers, more than 25 full-time non-sworn support staff. We are a dedicated team of men and women who are honored to serve our diverse, unified, and growing community.
The UCPD is committed to keeping Union City a vibrant and safe place to live, work, and visit, and community engagement is one of our keys to a strong partnership with our neighbors.
Under the leadership of Chief Jared Rinetti and two police captains, the Support Services and Patrol Divisions provide around-the-clock community service and public safety to our residents.
