Chipper Program

2023 CERT Chipper Postcard_1 ACFD Community Chipper Program:

The Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) is excited to offer wildfire mitigative services in areas that are threatened by High Severity Fire Zones (HSFZ). This year, ACFD is offering this free service to Union City residents on Saturday May 20th, 2023 to reduce potential fire hazards caused by vegetation.

The areas identified for fuel mitigation support in 2023 are on Appian Way and Tamarack Drive. Residents in these areas can sign up for the Chipper program by filling out the Chipper sign-up form on the ACFD website  https://fire.acgov.org/chipper-program/.  Please return the enrollment form to onelessspark@acgov.org to be included in the route on May 20th, 2023. Residents may also call-in to (510) 632-3473, Ext. 1190 or (925) 833-3473, Ext. 1190 to complete the enrollment form over the phone, but you will need to come in and sign the form prior to the chipping date. Note, the program has limited availability.

The Fuel Management team may arrive at the enrolled homes anytime between 9:00 am - 3:00 pm on May 20th, 2023. ACFD requests that if you live on a narrow access road with limited ability to enter or exit, that you please stack your green waste at the nearest accessible public road.
