Development Impact Fee Reporting (AB 1600 Reports)
California state legislation sets certain legal and procedural parameters for the charging of Development Impact Fees. These fees are imposed by local governments on new development projects to finance the acquisition, construction, and improvement of public facilities and infrastructure needed to service those projects.
The enabling legislation was passed as State Assembly Bill 1600 (AB 1600) in 1987 by the California Legislature and is now codified as California Government Code Sections 66000 - 66008. Under the requirements of what is commonly referred to as "AB 1600" or the "Mitigation Fee Act", the City is required to publish a Development Impact Fee Report within 180 days after the close of each fiscal year.
