Union City-based technology startup, Smart Wires Inc., recently won an East Bay Innovation Award in the Clean Tech category. The Clean Tech category recognizes products, services, and processes that harness renewable materials and energy sources, dramatically reduce the use of natural resources, and cut or eliminate emissions and wastes.
Smart Wires highly intelligent "valve" for transmission grids controls the flow of power on the electric grid to push power away from congested lines and onto underutilized paths. This cutting edge approach allows the utilities' networks to maximize capacity as their current infrastructure was not built for today's usage patterns.
