The panelists will discuss the 2021 Black History Month theme of ‘The Black Family’, the relevancy of Black history today, and how education, economics and social justice play an important role in the future of the Black community. The event will provide an inside perspective of the lived experiences and lessons in courage from our panelists.
Mayor Carol Dutra-Vernaci expresses “It is with the utmost respect and appreciation that we welcome our panelists to share their unique perspectives during this event. The City of Union City prides itself on preserving its family-oriented and culturally rich community; therefore, it is befitting that this panel will dive into the topic of the Black Family and more broadly about the lived experiences of our Black community. Most importantly, we look forward to this discussion generating ideas and solutions about how we, as a city and a community, can better support and lift up our Black community. We want to be sure to extend these meaningful conversations into actions that go beyond Black History Month.”
