In light of recent events where many neighboring jurisdictions and regional bodies have been subjected to racist and antisemitic rhetoric by anonymous callers, the City of Union City will be disabling virtual public comments via Zoom in all governmental meetings effective October 24, 2023. These changes are a preventative measure against disruptive behavior that may otherwise hinder the ability to conduct city business and maintain meeting decorum.
The City is committed to providing accessibility for its constituents, and encourages the public to participate in public meetings through other avenues.
Members of the public may continue to observe meetings either in-person or remotely. Regularly scheduled City Council Meetings, for example, will continue to be broadcast on Zoom (viewing function only), UCTV Channel 15, and on the City website at www.unioncity.org.
Those who wish to participate in public governmental meetings are welcome to attend and provide public comment in-person or to submit public comment in advance of a meeting via email.
To submit public comments prior to a City Council meeting:
- Email the City Clerk at cityclerk@unioncity.org prior to the start of a meeting. Please notate “Public Comment” in the subject line and the agenda item number being addressed.
- All public comments submitted by email will be distributed to City Council and made publicly available.
