The City is still currently recovering from the impact of a computer virus that occurred in September 2019. Upon learning of the issue, we immediately implemented a response plan, contacted law enforcement, and have engaged a leading forensic firm to assist in the investigation, determine what occurred, and address any findings. This is the process we are still undergoing as of today and likely weeks into the future. In addition, this has transitioned into an active criminal investigation, meaning that we cannot disclose those findings as doing so would compromise the investigation.City staff continues to work hard to restore and rebuild impacted I.T. systems. Employees have been incredibly resilient in finding workarounds to ensure service can still be provided to the public – including residents and businesses. Our recovery process does not have a timeline associated with it as all of this will take time and resources to carry out.
While this event has been significantly impactful to the City organization, we are using this as an opportunity to evaluate how we respond to and prepare for future incidents and to improve our resiliency. We appreciate the public's patience with us as we work through this challenging situation.
